Episode 2: The Launch
“Did you see that cute blonde girl from last night?”
“Probably has a temper to match,” the tired Faunus grumpily replied, upset to have just spent last night with the tiresome other boy instead of his friend. He smoothed out his green vest, white shirt, and earthly brown pants before moving on to putting on his green cape and earthly brown boots.
Josué chuckled whilst he himself undressed from his pajama pants and back into his white shirt and brown pants and boots, topping off the outfit with his bronze yellow coat. “You still don’t do well against woman, do you, friend? If I didn’t know you any better, I’d say that you swung a different direction, if you know what I mean~!”
“Die!” Kaitou angrily hissed, his sky blue eyes blazing in anger, his wings puffing up to make him look bigger.
The other blonde chuckled again. “Now, now! Take it easy, my friend! I was just joking, you know!” Josué laughed as he held his arms up in surrender. “By the way, I noticed that Miss Fey still wears that old backpack. I take it that she still wished to hide that she’s a Faunus?”
“Yeah. She says she’s afraid of being treated differently from other people, what with all the discrimination and bullies against us. I can handle myself just fine against those jerks, but Fey…”
“I hear you. She’s always been the quiet one, wanting what’s best for both you Faunus and us human mortals. It would really suck if they suddenly lashed out at her just because of her heritage,” Josué nodded in understanding. “Okay, then. I have one last question. Mind if I ask?”
“Tch. Like you’ll listen if I say ‘no?’” Kaitou scoffed.
“Touché. Anyway, I’ve been hearing about teams. Are you and Fey planning to hook up?”
The green clad Faunus blushed at Josué’s choice of words. “You make it sound as if we’re dating. Still, I do plan on teaming up with her. She’s my best friend, and I don’t want her being paired up with some sleaze ball as her partner that would end up taking advantage of her!”
“Yeesh, Kaitou! Your over-protectiveness of her is both admirable and disheartening at the same time,” Josué grinned sheepishly, now donning his yellow attire. The outfit consisted of a white Tee, brown pants, a yellow-brown overcoat, and leathery brown shoes. After that, both blondes proceeded to the school’s cafeteria.
“Kaitou, Josué! We’re over here!” Fey called, now wearing a black and red schemed Lolita dress, black over-the-knee stocking, red and black matching Lolita shoes, a black feather in her hair, and, as the boys had mentioned before, a white egg-shaped backpack that had her black wings sticking out from its sides. The wings looked more like they were a decoration piece with it on.
Sitting beside her, the girl from the previous night was drowsily eating her pancakes, the favored breakfast topped with a boat-load of syrup, a tuff of whip cream and a side of strawberries. She now wore a white floral print short-sleeved one-piece dress, a periwinkle casual-enough robe-coat (also short-sleeved), white ankle-high socks, periwinkle dress shoes, and the mistletoe-brooch she had on before.
“Good morning, ladies! It appears you two have become friends!” Josué smiled as usual as he and Kaitou approached their table.
“I don’t know if you can really call us friends yet, but we have been getting along, right, Hannah?” Fey answered, turning to the twin tailed pinkette.
Realizing she was being addressed, the misty blue eyed girl turned to she-of-red-eyes. “Ah. Yes,” she drowsily replied and then continued to bite her pancake. She smacked Kaitou’s hand away when he tried to take one her strawberries. “My food.”
“Hey! You took my bed! I think I deserve at least a strawberry as compensation!” the Faunus retorted.
“That was then. This is now. And you cannot have my food,” Hannah nonchalantly replied, one hand now protectively guarding her food from the hungry boy.
Josué and Fey only laughed while Kaitou fumed over this.
---[At the locker room]---
“H-hey, Fey. You’ve heard ‘bout teams, right?” Kaitou spoke up as he took out his dual bladed pistols, the two firearm weapons attached the holsters on the backs his belts.
Fey withdrew her claws from her own locker, allowing them to fold back up as arm bracelets for the time being. “Yes, I have. Why do you ask?” she asked, oblivious to his reasons. “Do you plan on being on someone’s team?”
“I, uh, was just wondering if you knew. I understand if you want to be on someone else’s team.,” Kaitou began, turning away if only to hide his discomfort of the idea.
Hey smiled, pulling her Faunus friend back to face her. “Kaitou, you’re my best friend. Of course I’d love to be on a team with you,” she answered with a smile. The blue eyed blonde’s face reddened as his heart beat faster at her statement. Out of embarrassment, the white winged Faunus turned away, though a relived smile made its appearance nevertheless.
“Get a room, you sappy losers!” the orange haired jerk from the other day sneered while a tall yet lanky looking grey Mohawk guy followed, laughing at his comment. The other two guys - - laughed as well. (*ahemjerkscoughweeze*)
Kaitou’s wings puffed up as anger toward the group of Humans began to rise. “You again? You’re just begging for a beatdown!” the Faunus growled, already reaching for his dual pistols.
He was stopped by Fey’s hand as she lay it upon his, causing the Faunus to questioningly turn to her. “Please. Don’t. You don’t need to fight him.”
“Listen to your girlfriend like a good animal, freak! You $+^9!@ degenerates must really get a kick out of being someone else’s pet!” the jerk laughed, joining his chorus of goons.
“That’s so it!!” Kaitou finally snapped, brushing Fey’s hand off and immediately speeding toward the Human, whom smirked as he himself readied his battle mace.
Almost in an instant, however, a dense mist of icy blue covered the space between the two. Both boys searched around, surprised by the mist as it just as quickly dispersed and revealed both Hannah and Josué standing between the two, Hannah’s umbrella-hidden sword rifle aimed directly at Kaitou while Josué casually stood before the name-calling jerk. (Okay. I’ll attempt to stop calling him that now)
“You’re Cardin Winchester, am I right?”
“Yeah? What of it, shrimp? Got a problem with it?” the Goliath asked, blue eyes glaring down into honey-yellow ones.
“Oh, nothing a trivial as that!” the blonde nearly laughed. “I just thought that since we are both fellow to-be students of the grand Beacon Academy, it wouldn’t be so wise for us to fight amongst one another. We are Hunters – and Huntresses – in-training after all and still have Initiation to take, and we wouldn’t want to commit any actions that would have us shipped back out of Vale now, would we?”
“Heh; it’s not like that dumb bird will survive anyway. I’d be doing him a favor by putting him out of his misery!” the brute laughed yet again.
Josué only continues to smile. “Suit yourself, Mister Winchester,” the blonde shrugged. “But I suppose I should have known better than to ask something so simple of a brute such as yourself.”
“Why you little-” Cardin seethed with rage, raising his battle mace high to attack. Just before he could bring it down, however, Josué had leaped the distance between them and already had the redhead at the mercy of the sharp end of his dust-equip sword. The bully trembled, knowing full well that this other blonde could easily end him.
“A crude and generic power-oriented battle mace to fit your crude and generic power-style. Weapons truly do reflect their masters, yours flaunting your brutish and ill-mannered nature with ease,” the lighter blonde smiled, though now it seemed cold and ruthless despite its previous friendliness. “Still, even brutes know just when to back down, don’t you agree, Mister Winchester?”
Removing the blade from against the redhead’s throat, Cardin made a few still shocked steps back before kneeling from his mental shock. This instantly caused his trio of underlings to gather around him, concerned and asking him if he was okay. At the same time, Fey was leading Kaiou away to head for the cliffs, Josue following some steps behind.
“Hold on!” Cardin called out, the lighter blonde stopping at the call. “This- this isn’t over… Not by a long shot! You’ll – you’ll pay for this!!” he roared, enraged. Despite this, Josue merely chuckled before he left them entirely.
“That guy’s gonna be a pain later on…” Kaitou growled.
“Maybe, but don’t worry. Let’s just focus on our Innitiation and pass for now, okay?” Fey suggested, her friends nodding at her advice.
Noticing they were one person short, though, Josué began to look around. “Hey, where did Hannah go?”
---[Back at the locker}---
“Huh?? I was not asleep…” Hannah finally stirred. The periwinkle girl blinked, soon realizing that everyone had already left. “Oh,” was all she could muster, hearing the announcement for attendance to Inniation before she too hurried for the Beacon Cliffs.
